JRN 400: First Weekly Stories Assignment

Our first round of weekly stories are edited, graded and posted to the Spartan Newsroom web site. I think it's a good time for us to look at some of the work of our peers to see what ideas we can glean from them on how we can do our next round of stories

Like digital story package examples from last week,
he best stories tis week shared some important traits:

  • Multiple people were interviewed
  • A range of people were interviewed: people affected by an issue; people in charge of an issue; and people who are expert on an issue. Too many stories interviewed a bunch of people, but from only one of those source silos.
  • Original pictures taken by the reporter of people doing what is being reported upon
  • Strong proofreading and few grammatical and spelling errors
  • Stories that structurally look like TV news stories, newspaper news stories and news magazine news stories, and not like term papers or personal essays.
