Our issues editor is Rachel Bidock. She will be approving your weekly story ideas, working with you to refine your reporting and writing, and generally offering direction and coaching. In her application letter she wrote, "I have experience leading. I planned, and led a spring break trip down through 6 different cities. I was able to set up last minute housing in Baton Rouge when one of the other leaders dropped the ball. I have edited other student's papers, not just for journalism classes. I understand how to critique and how to take critiques. I continue to grow and learn about how to tell stories in an interesting manner while doing the story justice. I am able to lead teams. I have held leadership positions in the past, whether there is an assigned leader of not, tend to tell into the position naturally. She can be reached at 248-840-5765 and bidockra@msu.edu.
Our copy editor will be Kelly Guess. Under Rachel's direction she will be copyediting and proofreading your work, offering suggestions and fixing errors whether factual, grammatical or regarding AP style. In her application letter she wrote, "I found (I) actually enjoy editing stories and it helps make me a better writer by seeing how others write and looking at ways to improve it and make sure it is as perfect as possible. I would put in the time and effort to make sure that facts and numbers are right and that things flow and tell the story in a compelling way." She can be reached at 907-388-9005 or guesskel@msu.edu.
Congrats and thanks, Rachel and Kelly!
